All Batten students who wish to register for an independent study course must secure approval from the faculty advisor who will supervise their work. A formal outline of the experiences and evaluation process must be approved by the faculty advisor of the course and submitted via the form below to the Batten Registrar before the last day to add a course in a given semester.

After meeting with your faculty advisor, please complete the below form and submit. Faculty advisor approval must accompany this form. Once you receive email approval from your selected faculty advisor, either upload a PDF to this form prior to submission or forward the email to the Batten Academic Affairs team at BattenAcademics@virginia.edu with the subject: Independent Study Faculty Approval.
